Q: IS IT A TATTOO?
A: Microblading does qualify as a tattoo. However, instead of a machine, a disposable hand-held tool with sterile and single use needles is used to place the pigment superficially under the skin. This method allows the pigment to slowly fade over time. For best results, a touch-up appointment within 6-12 weeks is required to complete the service.
Q: WHAT IS A TOUCH-UP SESSION
A: Your touch up takes place 6-12 weeks after your first session and is necessary for the finished result. At this appointment, any adjustments in shape and color can be addressed as well as replacing any pigment lost during the initial healing process. It is recommended to schedule a Color Boost session every 12 months to maintain your results.
Q: IS IT PAINFUL?
A: Everyone tolerates pain differently. Strong topical anesthetics are applied to minimize any discomfort.
Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
A: Most brows heal within 10-14 days. You can expect your brows to look very dark and bold the first day, followed by progressively darkening over the next several days as the skin starts to scab and heal over the pigment. Mild redness and swelling may occur the first day. Peeling will begin around days 4-5 of the healing process. As the scabs begin to exfoliate off, your brow may appear to look “patchy” or “spotty”. This is completely normal. You may lose some hair strokes, but those will be filled back in at your touch up appointment.
Q: HOW LONG WILL IT LAST
A: Microblading can last up to 2 years or as long as they are maintained. Your pigment will begin to fade within 12 months. Additional color boost touch ups are recommended every 8-24 months to maintain your brows.
Factors that will cause your brows to fade faster:
- Not following aftercare instructions
- Sun exposure
- Strong immune systems
- Exfoliating skin care products
- Exposure to salt water
- Smoking
- Oily skin
Q: ARE YOU CERTIFIED?
A: Sarah L. Studio, LLC is a licensed Marion County tattoo facility. Our certification was completed at the Micro-pigmentation Centre in Toronto, Canada.
Q: WILL YOU SHAVE MY BROW HAIR OFF?
A: No. This service enhances your natural brows. If anything, it is best to not tweeze or wax 2 weeks prior to your consultation.
Q: WHAT IF I HAVE NO EYEBROWS?
A: Microblading can be performed on individuals with little to no brow hair. Whether you have brows or not, a thorough consultation and brow mapping session will outline your brow shape to best compliment your bone structure and face shape.
Q: HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?
A: Microblading requires a minimum of 2 sessions.
Expect to spend up to 3 hours at your first appointment. During this appointment, we will map out your brow shape and blend a custom pigment that will compliment your skin tone and blend with existing brow hair. It is not uncommon for the mapping stage to take as much time as the actual procedure as we strive for balance.
The second appointment is for your touch up and is included in your initial investment. This takes place 6-12 weeks after the initial procedure.
